The Huntington Story

On Wednesday evening at 10 p.m in Barstow, California, Janice Jones was accidentally shot in the leg as the result of her pet dog knocking her gun of the table.

Jones, 53, was rushed to Huntington Beach Hospital after the accident for care, and later moved to Irvine Medical Center. Jones could be charged in addition to the accident, because she didn't have a permit for the gun.

“It could have been worse,” California Highway Patrol press liaison Tammy Rye said. “The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank.”

After taking Jones to the hospital, Jones' pomeranian Tombo was taken in the care of Huntington Beach animal control officers. The dog looked to be malnourished, and Jones will be charged with animal abuse from Ngo's office.

“It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops,” Janet Ngo, an animal control officer said.
