Student of the Month


When it was announced that Shruti Patel became student of the month last Thursday at Bowie. Her teachers were quite in favor of her being student of the month, and thought she deserved the award because of her hard work.

"She never gives up on what she wants to accomplish," teacher Bob Johnson said. "I've seen Shruti work so hard since the beginning.

Shruti Patel's mark of at least a 4.5 gpa proves just how much she studies.

"I always strive to keep a 95 or above in all my classes," 9th grader Shruti Patel said. "Without that 4.5 gpa, I couldn't keep up my title."

Patel studies every night for her classes.
   
"I have at least one hour of homework per class including electives," Patel said. "I'm two years ahead academically."

Patel is involved in multiple extracurriculars/clubs and has to manage her school work with those daily.

"I participate in cross country, I recently won an award for that too." Patel said.

Patel's parents have been her most avid supporters during this process.

"My family has aided me the most in this process," Patel said. "They've understood that school has had to come first."

Patel has mentioned in the past some of her most useful tactics, but not the most important one in her eyes.

"It's vital to choose the best people possible to work with." Patel said.

Not only has Patel's diligence helped her, but it's helped those around her too.

"Shruti has made the ultimate study partner," Patel's 9th grade friend Jennifer said. "She always knows how to keep me on track and find a way to make it fun."

Parents, friends, and teachers of Patel have all been very proud of her.

"We are enormously proud," Patel's mother Rashmi said. "She worked so hard, and everyone can see it."

Patel has many supporters who are proud of her, and she also feels very accomplished with herself.

"I feel very proud and thankful to receive this award." Patel said.

Being student of the month definitely makes a person's name known to everyone at Bowie, which is what Shruti has now experienced.

"I've gained so much more respect from my parents and teachers," Patel said. "It's so nice to have people know my name and what I'm capable of."
